ISLAMAHANE, HAMIDIE SCHOOL OF ARTS AND PROFESSIONS, ELENIS ZOGRAFOU 3, UPPER TOWNMonday, July 8, 2024
21:00 , Islahane
Set against the enchanting backdrop of twilight, two of the city’s most renowned female artists, with international careers, come together for the first time to present a stunning program rich in lyrical beauty.
Their repertoire spans centuries, from the serene Ave Maria by Bach-Gounod to the 20th century’s Nocturne by G.A. Papandreou.
The program weaves an enchanting tapestry, contrasting the intimate French chanson of Hahn and dialogues of Fauré with the shimmering Impressionism of Debussy and Komitas. Romantics like Schubert find new voices alongside the virtuosity of Alvars, the “Liszt of the harp.”
The concert concludes on a thrilling note with two arias by Rossini and Puccini, where the harp’s strings intertwine with the soaring vocals, building to a powerful emotional climax.
